옻칠은 살아 숨 쉬는 도료이다. 나는 이 물성을 통해 시간과 빛을 담는 사물을 만든다. 전통 건칠 기법을 기반으로 금속, 도자, 3D 프린트 등 현대적 재료와 결합하여 옻칠의 언어를 현재의 감각으로 재해석한다. 균열과 겹침, 반복되는 건조의 시간은 표면을 넘어 내면의 밀도를 형성한다. 나의 작업은 깨짐 이후의 회복, 그리고 빛이 스며드는 순간을 시각화하는 시도이다.
Ottchil (lacquer) is a living, breathing medium.
Through this materiality, I create objects that hold time and light.
Grounded in the traditional Geonchil technique, I reinterpret the language of lacquer through a contemporary sensibility by integrating it with modern materials such as metal, ceramics, and 3D printing.
Cracks, layers, and the repeated durations of drying transcend the surface, forming an inner density.
My work is an exploration of restoration after fracture,
and an attempt to visualize the moment when light permeates matter.
